Golf is like business.
Recently, I was talking to one of my friends about his business. We were talking about different strategies and which areas of his business needed the most attention and energy. Likewise, we talked about which areas of his business that were strong and needed less effort and time.
As we discussed these business topics, it made me think of golf. Well, I am always thinking about golf, but it made me realize that golf is like running a business. What do I mean by that? Both golf and business require relentless persistence, attention, effort and practice.
Have you ever seen those get rick quick scams? Totally outrageous, but appealing right. Spend 5 easy installments of $19.99 and make $1 million in just 30 days. SIGN ME UP! Haha. There is no such thing as get rich quick. Just like there is no such thing as going from a 36 handicap to a scratch golfer in 30 days. Many golfer's never make it close to scratch. Just like many business owners fail.
But both golf and business require effort, but most importantly focused effort. Because the right type of effort and/or practice leads to better results. And many times hiring a professional (golf teaching pro) or a business consultant can help give you the third party point of view you need.
Those (golfers and business owners) that are willing to put in more work/practice will play better and be more successful. That I can guarantee. No gimmicks or infomercials are going help you get rich or shot par, but practice and effort are the key to success.
You already knew this, but it is always worth reminding yourself that golf ISN'T suppose to be easy! And neither is running a business.
So, do you think golf is like business? Or business is like golf?
